All Of My Journeys

Yesterday after the free movie, yummy lunch and some bookstore browsing, the kiddos headed to their "spots" in the house and I to mine.  I was able to finish up this piece and start three more!

I've always loved willow trees.  We lived in a couple different houses(understatement there) and cities growing up, so I do not know exactly where it was, but there was a willow tree in my childhood.  And I remember thinking it was quite magical.  All those willowy branches like little arms reaching in the wind.
My willow tree is a combination of layers of paint and thin strips of scrapbooking paper.  I think the end effect is magical in itself....and the red truck if a real keeper.  The quote is from a greeting card I bought a few years back from Curly Girl Designs.  I just love it.  And it really sums up what life is for me.  Because no matter where I go and what I do, my journey always comes back to right here, right now.....this little crazy life and place I call home.

Where Are You Going Tonight?

I'd like to take a drive at night somewhere where the stars are so bright they sparkle like millions of diamonds. Then I'd lay down the tailgate, spread out a cozy blanket and gaze upwards. Of course a nice glass of red wine would accompany me during this gazing. And I'd watch for shooting stars. My wish should I see one? Well now, wishes don't come true if you share them!

So I Did Get My Brushes Out

After a yummy lunch with our family, a little napping, watching the movie Blind Side with William and an icy cold mug of brew, I started to paint. And paint, and paint. I just could not stop! It was liberating and fun and exciting! I was able to get 5 smaller paintings finished last night. My goal was to be looser with my paint brush. And since I had not started any with texture and was too impatient to layer the texture, sleep and then paint, I just kept layering and layering the paint onto the wood surface to obtain these really exciting new compositions:

I am headed to Hobby Lobby to buy some black gesso. I am thinking I may like the outlines left behind from the black gesso. I've also started a tandem bike, some funky lollipop flowers and some more back yard birds. I bought this great Georgia Backyard bird field guide which is where the inspiration for all the little tweets have come from. Off I go!!

The Paintings I Hated To See Go

So these are a few of the paintings at the Trinity Show now. Man I hated to see them go. You know every once in awhile I have to keep one.....and although I loved all three of these, I know they will find great homes this week. If you are interested in any of paintings, please attend the Trinity Show this week! It's an amazing collection of artists on display. In fact, as I walked the halls to the whimsical section I felt very small as an artist. I don't get they way much, but seeing all the unbelievable talent in one venue really made my heart skippy. And a tweak bit honored to be a part of such an event. ;)

****Just read in my email (Wednesday am) that all three have sold already! The show started Monday night and runs until Saturday afternoon. I am thrilled that they all have new homes. **
