A Few Obstacles

"Success isn't measured by the position you reach in life; it's measured by the obstacles you overcome." -Booker T Washington So right now, my obstacles are not the ideas because they are coming so fast that I am having trouble sleeping. I've got plenty of canvases ready, wire to weave and beads to wire. My obstacle right now is this:
Yep. Everyone has a skeleton in their closet. And mine is actually an entire garage. I am a freak about having order before a new surge of creativity. And today the garage MUST be done. I can't even find my canvases. Literally. How the heck do I let this space get to this point? Urgh. I spent a good two days cleaning out the studio and re-arranging last week. So it's ready to be used. Hopefully by Monday I'll be back at the desk I so want to be at right now. For now, Ellie is keeping in warm for me. ;)
UPDATE: 5 LARGE black bags of trash and bins of overflowing items have lead me to this conclusion...... I may be a hoarder. Yikes. So we are having an impromptu Friday ONLY yard sale. 8-2. COME on. Seriously come. Oh and BTW, I have only purged a tiny portion of the garage. There is an entire attic above the garage and a rather large storage unit as well. sigh. I may need to go buy more beer. Later.......

Snow Day!

At exactly 5:41am our house phone rang. It was the county calling to say that all Coweta County schools have been closed due to inclement weather. See the inclement that canceled school: I love my zebra rain boots. This snow is like sand really. Cold, sparkly sand. No snow balls or snowmen with this powder. We all bundled up, spent about 20 minutes outside, and now are in our various rooms playing. William playing wii in the den, Mailey playing Barbie in her room and me.....well I'm playing on the computer in my bed under the covers (Lily nestled up too in bed!).

This is Mailey's playhouse. I'd love to have a giant house just like this. Super cute. It'll be a long lazy day here. I plan to work on the studio. I've got a PILE of organizing to do. And as you know if you've read my blog in the past, I absolutely can not create unless all is in order. It's a really bad creative blocker for me to see piles.
I love this eagle statue. And in the snow, he looks extra important. Mailey let me snap one fun pic before heading in to warm her little fingers. The rabbit vest was mine as a child BTW. She loves it as much as I did. Well, hope you have a cozy creative day where you are!!

New Inspiration Board and Getting Organized

I've always said that my inspirations come from many places. From the side of the road, to an image in a magazine, I can always find images to spark my creative juices. Lately though, I've felt overwhelmed with all the ideas floating in my head, articles laying around and deadlines being over sighted. Serious overload. And I like to be organized, a trait many artists lack. So off to the thrift store I went seeking a large bulletin board. Voila, look what I found! This fabulous tack board from an old office cubicle. Quickly I ran to the local fabric supplier for a zippy new pattern from Amy Butler, some tacks and now I have it ALL where I can see it and be inspired. Oh happy day.

I stamped on paint chips "custom orders, upcoming, inspirations, and goals" and placed images in those sections to be even more organized. I can quickly change out the ideas as I need. Yeah!

New ideas in the works....more bikes on the horizon, an old jeep and some silhouettes. So how do you keep your ideas organized? I'd love to see! Have a great afternoon. I'm off to the studio to finish up some paper flowers in milk glass vases I found this weekend.
