Home Will Always Know Me.....and a little giveaway

I don't know if you've read my "about me" page before, but I am from Birmingham, Alabama.  I grew up in the most amazing city surrounded by friends and family my whole little life.  Seriously when I think back on my childhood, the memories flood my head with giant puffy heart moments.

I bring the nostalgic up because this weekend is my 20 year high school reunion.  Yep.  20!  I am beyond excited to see everyone as it has been so long for many of us.  I was cutting and pasting senior pictures onto nametags just an hour ago wondering how they look, what they are doing now, where they live, etc!  The questions are sure to get answered as we have an entire weekend planned!  Yippee!!  So as I am a wee bit overwhelmed with the last minute details (I was class president...who'd a thunk that now?), I'll not be back here until Tuesday when we return.  I didn't want you to think I didn't like you anymore.

BUT, if you're up to it, here's a bit of homework for ya.  Yes, you read me right, I said a bad word in my blog.  I'd love to know what home would remember about you.  What was your footprint growing up? Leave it in the comment section.  And yes, there will be a gift for your HOME for one lucky reader.  (as in GIVEAWAY people)

Here's my answer:  Home knows my voice.  Literally.  I was a singer, known for this in the community, school and church.  I am also painfully loud when I talk and upon reading old report cards a few teachers thought so too.  :)

Home (southern California) will always know my sass. I was a silly, sassy little thing.
My husband went to his 20th last summer. He had a lot of fun. Mine is in three years. I need to start getting ready for it.

I hope you have an amazing time.

nobody knew the real me. well, I guess they probably knew I was outspoken. but growing up I lived in survival mode. depending on what age would depend on what they remembered. high school probably knew me as a bit of a rebel. kind of a wild child. then again, I wouldn't consider the place I grew up home either.

Hey Jenni,

Home (Dunwoody) just had our 10th reunion this summer. It was funny cause apparently I was remembered as a smart one. It's nice looking back on it to know that people thought that cause I am never sure if we truly believe that about ourselves. And in my yearbook several people thought I would be a teacher!

HAve fun in the B'ham. My mom went to Shades Valley and they had their reunion several years back and one of the things they got was a CD with tons of "oldies" she loves it!

My home is actually Taiwan, but I have lived in the United States since I was thirteen...so I guess Atlanta is sort of home...I have always loved drawing but really loved fashion. I knew I wanted to be an artist since I was 5. Have fun at your 20th...Nancy S.

It's kinda sad, but since I am on my 20th(!!) house and I am only in my 40's - I dont really have a home base. I guess I could say Ontario since I have never left here. And this time of year with the gorgeous leaves always makes me smile.

Home (Orlando & Atlanta-mostly) knows me to be loving and passionate about family, friends, education-be it formal or a hobby of some sort (always learning about something-so I can pass it along to my kids).

Enjoy life and whatever comes your way...embrace it.

Home (Miami) would remember me kind of the same way as you, funnily enough. I sang in various school and church choirs and ensembles, and at HS graduation - and I talked. A lot!

Have a great 20th reunion. Mine was a couple of years ago and it was weird and kind of fun - and I'm glad it's never happening again!

Ha! I was recently contacted by an old high school friend, and the thing she said she remembered me for most was my HAIR! Now there's a legacy to be proud of, for sure! (not my kindness, or my compassion, no my HAIR!)lol

Home (New Lothrop, MI) would remember me for my sense of humor. I grew up in a tiny town where everyone knew each other and I loved it. My 20-year reunion was supposed to be this year, but they dropped the ball so we are having a 21st Reunion next September. Anyway, I hope you have a great time at your reunion weekend. :-)

Home will know the art in it... not just my own, but that of my mother and my mother-in-law. It will know my love for my state, in the art that hangs on my living room walls. It will also know my poetry... the expression of my voice on paper. Hope your reunion goes well!

Home will know the meek, mild, shy middle child... yearning for more, long walks in the woods with an elderly woman who listened and heard what I had to say, reading to escape, to learn, to travel to other places, trying to fit in and not knowing how or why I wanted to... home will always be my mother many years gone.. home will always know me... the inside, the outside and the deep down thoughts of me...

Well, home (where I went to school) knows me as the quiet one. Home (where I teach school) knows me as 'the art teacher'. I'm not as quiet anymore, but it still seems to follow me. That is not how I want to be known. I guess that is why I love to create! I have alot to say!

Sometimes I wonder if home even knows me at all...I've now lived in my current home longer than I have lived anywhere else until this point in life. If they remember, I bet it's my loud voice and my savvy business sense. LOL! I had a booming 'chewing gum by the stick' business in the 7th grade - 150% markup - it was easier than babysitting. :)

Home knows my smile and my strength. Home changed a lot for me. One home was Boaz, Alabama! And you are probably one of only five people who have heard of that place! But every home knew and knows my smile and strength and I pray God always continues to fill me with both!
